Context
The client has a plot of land on one of the best beaches in Lanzarote, an unbeatable location with great international tourist potential. His wish: to create a project that reflects the architectural tradition of Lanzarote, its history and cultural evolution. For this it is necessary, besides having a great business vision, to be aware that a highly qualified multidisciplinary team is needed.
Solution
After taking part in an international competition, IHP was awarded the bid by Yudaya thanks to its proven experience designing and constructing hotels and resorts of all different shapes and sizes. In the agreement, the management of the establishment was signed by the Barceló international chain; a fact that was determined by the familiarity that IHP maintains in the development of projects for large international hotel chains, where knowledge of requirements and needs is a must.
This 4-star resort’s extraordinary project will offer 13 uniquely spacious areas within its nearly 90.000 m2 and 720 rooms. It will also have a “premium” area of 130 rooms with exclusive services, 10.000 m2 of aquatic zones, a convention center and theater -both sprawled in an area of 2.000 m2-, a spa, a nightclub and a shopping center.
IHP will develop all the necessary architecture, engineering and interior design services plus the project’s complete management and construction (project management) to carry out the hotel and commercial project until its full completion, legalization and launch.
Barceló Costa Papagayo
An ambitious project that is inspired by one of the most important artistic representations of the Canary Islands
The idiosyncrasy of the island, firmly inspired by the architectural, artistic and cultural works of Cesar Manrique, has outlined the way forward to keep the relationship between the project and its environment, integration and sustainability alive.
